Ferocactus glaucescens - Blue Barrel Cactus

Ferocactus glaucescens commonly known as Blue Barrel Cactus. This is native to the limestone hills of Hidalgo, Mexico. It is a spherical or cylindrical cactus. It is growing to 60 cm in diameter, and height up to 45 cm. It has long yellow spines. Its blooms yellow flowers in summer and the flowers last a very long time. The plants start blooming flowers when they are about 13 cm in diameter. Its fruits color is white with dry flowers. In cultivation in temperate regions it must be grown under glass. People like this cactus and plant in pot to decorate their house. 
Cultivate: Blue Barrel Cactus is easily grown from seeds and some from cuttings. Seeds can be sown in the spring or summer in well-drained pots of soil for plant.  After showing the seeds thinly on top, cover them with a bit of fine quartz grit. Moisten and lay a piece of glass across the top. The glass will warm the pot like a greenhouse. When seeds are growing plants remove the glass to receive full light and air for the young plants.
